It’s a fun, pulpy romp, aided by quippy writing, sharp action-movie direction and surprisingly emotive character work courtesy of Capcom’s RE Engine. The Special Edition of the game is currently in development for PS5 and Xbox Series X.At first it looks like DMC5 – which resurrects an action series that’s been dormant for over a decade – might be a bit too self-referential for newcomers, though in truth “there’s a big demon tree and you need to kill it” is all the plot you really need to know. While the ability to buy Vergil is good news for console fans, there's bad news for PC users, which is that the anticipated villain won't be available on the PC platform.ĭevil May Cry 5 is available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. It is also worth noting that some Special Edition features like improved visuals and the arena mode will not be available on the PS4 and Xbox One. Even if the Special Edition doesn't offer new content, the inclusion of Vergil as a playable character itself will be exciting news for DMC5 fans. It would be a great addition to build upon the lore and leave some loose ends that can be tied up in Devil May Cry 6.

However, it is unknown whether the Special Edition of DMC5 will also include new story content related to Vergil. Nevertheless, it's late, but he's here and it's good to know that the character will be finally available for both PS4 and Xbox One fans when the Special Edition of the game becomes available for next-gen consoles. Even though Vergil was a big part of the game, fans were wondering as to why he wasn't unlockable in DMC5 like in the previous games. In Devil May Cry 5, fans got three playable characters including Dante, Nero, and a new character called V, but Vergil was missing. However, the character was mostly unlockable in previous DMC games, featuring unique move sets and abilities that fans always looked forward to. Throughout the Devil May Cry series, Vergil has played the antagonistic role against his protagonist brother Dante. The news led fans to believe that Vergil is only exclusive to the PS5 version of the game, but it has been confirmed that Vergil will also be available on the PS4 and Xbox One as paid DLC.

During the PS5 digital showcase event that was held earlier this month, fans learned that Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition will be available for the PS5, and comes packed with Vergil as a playable character.
